About

Welcome to PurePassover

Hi, I’m Dvora, and every year while there’s still snow on the ground, I open my Passover kitchen — a space dedicated to creating everything to celebrate the Spring holiday and feed my family from fresh ingredients. But here’s the exciting part: you don’t need a dedicated Passover kitchen to experience a stress-free, nothing-processed Passover!

This journey began in 2016 when my youngest daughter married a wonderful man whose family kept a no-processed Passover. Wanting to celebrate the holiday together, I took on the challenge—and as an avid cook and food lover, I was all in. Hosting my married children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends for Passover fills my home with love, laughter, and the sweetest moments of the year!

As a writer, I think of cooking for Passover like writing a poem in iambic pentameter. It’s not the usual approach. Just as iambic pentameter has a specific pattern, so be it with the Passover dietary rules—an intricate framework that, instead of limiting us, sparks creativity. It is our custom to use nothing processed, with limited exceptions for oil, salt, sugar, wine and gefilte fish, and no wheat in recipes, known as non-gebrokst. That means we don’t use matzah meal, and we don’t get our matzah wet. Instead, we craft delicious, satisfying meals using only real, fresh ingredients.

Hi! I’m Chani, a daughter, wife, and new mom to my little boy. From when I was a little girl, the kitchen was my home. I loved helping my mom cook and bake, finding immense satisfaction in transforming simple ingredients into delicious dishes.

My joy for Passover cooking began in my teens. Our family prioritized minimally processed foods, which meant our Passover menus were limited. Since school was out for two weeks before the holiday to allow time for preparations, I spent a lot of time at home. Our friend Dvora was busy cooking up a storm and developing creative solutions to the limited ingredients. I was inspired and eager to try it myself—I was ready to make Passover an exciting culinary experience.

As I experimented with different dishes, guided by Dvora, I shared my cooking updates for my friends to see on WhatsApp. My friends loved it and constantly asked for the recipes. Now, I’m honored to partner with Dvora in bringing PurePassover, our shared passion, to you.

You Can Do This—No Special Kitchen Required!

You don’t need a full Passover kitchen to get ahead on prep. A small space—like a laundry area with a folding table, access to a sink, running water, and electricity—is enough to set yourself up for success. However, a fridge/freezer with plenty of room is a must.

Once you identify your space, a few slow cookers and basic supplies will get you operational quickly. The incredible range of countertop electric appliances available today allows you to create everything you need from fresh ingredients—even without an actual stove or oven! It will be your choice how elaborate or simple you prefer. I confess, I love kitchen tools and gadgets that make my job easier. But you can add those as you determine what you need.
